Christ continually ate and drank with people. He then commanded his disciples to do the same, “Eat and drink in remembrance of me”. Amplify is our attempt, as disciples of Christ, to follow this command.

We do not believe that this command refers simply to the act of communion but rather points to a lifestyle that engages with people in conversation over food and drink. Hospitality is part of living a holy lifestyle, for when we sit down face to face with someone, we become equals and relationships grow. Through creating atmosphere and occasion for people to sit down in communion together we aim to amplify the message of Christ.

Amplify initially will happen once a month in Cafe Zipporah at The Jethro Centre although our vision at Arise is to see this grow to become a more regular event. It will be a combination of great coffee, relaxed conversation and live music. Amplify is outwardly focused and all profits made from the night will go towards the regeneration of Lurgan.

Also under the umbrella of Amplify is a bi-annual charity event called “Under the Covers” (see video on left). It was an idea conceived by Leigh and Nikki Brown, which had its first successful night in November 2007, raising £2442 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
